Background: Lignocellulose is the most abundant biomass on earth. However, biomass recalcitrance has become amajor factor affecting biofuel production. Although cellulose crystallinity significantly influences biomasssaccharification, little is known about the impact of three major wall polymers on cellulose crystallization.
