A rodlike birnessite-type Na0.7MnO2.05 was prepared and characterized, the electrochemical properties and the performance of the capacitor that was assemblied were studied. The results showed that it presented an excellent high power performance and cycling performance in 0.5 M K2SO4 aqueous electrolyte. A hybrid supercapacitor was assembled by activated carbon and Na0.7MnO2.05, a high enery density of 18 Wh/kg, 14.2 Wh/kg could be achieved at the power density of 400 W/kg and 2.18 k W/kg respectively.
