Based on the PVAR model, the paper analyzes the dynamic relationship and regional heterogeneity between urbanization and agricultural economic growth. The study shows that there is a long-term cointegration between China's urbanization and agricultural growth in the whole country.Further analysis reveals the impact of agricultural growth on urbanization is positive in three main regions, but there are significant regional differences about the impact of urbanization on agricultural growth. In less developed areas, urbanization significantly promotes economic growth in agriculture. In developed and underdeveloped areas, urbanization hinders economic growth of agriculture in different degrees. Finally,we propose that measures should be taken to formulate differentiated urbanization policy in accordance with the level of regional economic development to achieve benign interaction between agricultural growth and urbanization.
