Enterococcus faecalis was used as probiotics and in food fermentation; however, it had became one of the leading causes of nosocomial bacteremias, surgical wound, tissue, intra-abdominal, pelvic and urinary tract infections and endocarditis. To make matters worse, E. faecalis was reservoir and vehicle of antibiotic resistance, performed resistance against many commonly used antimicrobial agents such as aminoglycosides, penicillins, tetracycline, chloramphenicol and vancomycin.
