A series of experiments were carried out using stable homouncleo alloplasmic hybrids with cytoplasms of 24 Aegilops species. The cytoplasmic effects of each hybrid were studied which included growth habits, disease resistance, low temperature tolerance, photosynthetic characteristics, major agronomic traits, self fertility and seed protein content.
