Based on results of experimental infection by various ways of injection, thetropism of staphyloccus aureus and relationship of the type of disease to portal of infectionare evaluted. This strain of bacteria is isolated from affected joint of a chicken with arthritis. Inoculating the bacteria suspension into joint causes typical disease of arthritic type but intra- venous injection causes pyemia and acute suppurative arthritis.
