L-Theanine (LTA; γ-glutamylethylamide), a peculiar non-protein-derived amino acid isolated from tea, is widely used as a functional ingredient and dietary supplement. L-Theanine has been confirmed to have hepatoprotective effects, but the underlying mechanism remains unknown.
