Local pigs have the characteristics of coarse feeding tolerance, good meat quality and so on. Based on gut microbes, the present article review the effects of diet on the compositions and functions of intestinal microbial flora, the role of gut microbes in the utilization of roughage, and the regulatory mechanism of gut microbes- gut-brain axis on host metabolism, as well as nutrient utilization and fat deposition, the molecular basis of resistance of crude feed and meat quality traits.
