In September 2017, some pregnant sows in a swine farm suddenly suffered symptoms of abortion and death in Chenzhou City of Hunan Province. Then viscera of the dead pigs were collected and bacteria isolation and PCR identification were carried out. Combined with the clinical symptoms, the pathogen was finally confirmed as Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae. Randomly selecting the aborted sows and healthy ones (in the same barn) , IgG antibodies against Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae were detected by ELISA.
