Interferon-induced transmembrane proteins (IFITMs) play an important role in the innate immune response triggered by viral infection. Transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) causes severe diarrhea, vomiting and dehydration in piglets, resulting in huge economic losses to the swine industry.
