The pressures from machinery use and continuous agricultural production practices exacerbate soil compaction. Deep tillage (DT) can reduce subsoil compaction, but the spatial composition patterns and community assembly mechanisms of subsoil vs. topsoil bacteria mediated by DT are unknown.
