Hunan is one of the most important provinces in China for citrus production. To evaluate the status of the main citrus diseases, a preliminary survey was performed in citrus orchards in the major production areas of Hunan province. Survey results indicated that citrus canker, citrus excortis viriod (CEV) , and the stem-pitting type of citrus tristeza virus (CTV) were the most serious diseases. Citrus canker caused the most damage on the locally important cultivar ' Bingtang' sweet orange. * Shatian' pummelo was identified as a new CEV host.
