The water quality plays an important role for residents living in Xiangjiang valley, Hunan province, southern China. In this study, the contingent valuation method (CVM) was used to estimate the value for improving water quality of Xiangjiang for residents who live in in Chang-Zhu-Tan city cluster including Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan of Xiangjiang valley.
