The diiodocarbenemodified graphene nanosheets (Gr-CI2 were successfully synthesized. The generation of diiodocarbene was carried out by reaction of aqueous sodium hydroxide with iodoform. The functionalization was carried out in the presence of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide as the phase transfer catalyst.
