维生素B12在预防神经系统疾病、恶性贫血、促进营养物质代谢和畜禽生产等方面发挥重要的生理作用。哺乳动物自身不能合成维生素B12，仅由肠道中特定的微生物在钴的存在下产生，难以满足畜禽的需要，维生素B12必须通过膳食获取。因此，生产中常在畜禽饲粮中添加维生素B12来满足畜禽对其营养需要。文章就维生素B12的吸收代谢途径、生物学功能及其在畜禽生产中的应用进行了综述，以期为其在畜禽生产中的应用提供参考。
