China's super hybrid rice breeding project has developed many new cultivars with great yield potential. However, rice yield depends not only on genotype but also on environment. In 2008 and 2009, field experiments were conducted to compare super hybrid rice grown in Changsha (normal-yielding) and Guidong (high-yielding), Hunan Province, China.
