勤工助学是帮助贫困生完成学业的一条有效途径。勤工助学在缓解贫困生经济压力，实现经济自立，使其走出贫困阴影，树立自信心态；拓展知识，增强学习动力；全面锻炼，提高综合素质；明确职业规划，尽早适应社会等方面具有重要的作用。贫困生开展勤工助学应处理好工与学、助困与育人、有偿劳动与公益活动、经济回报与能力提高的关系。
