Starch-based films are promising biodegradable materials for food packaging but are limited by hydrophilicity and poor functional properties. Herein, this study proposed a citral nanoemulsion (NEs)-mediated interfacial engineering strategy to construct a self-assembled Janus starch film (NE-S/M) with dual hydrophobic-active functionality for fresh-cut fruits and vegetables preservation.
