Two species of the family Tineidae, Monopis congestella (Walker) and M. pavlovskii (Zagulajev), were reared from detritus of Goshawk and Ural Owl nests after breeding in Japan. M. congestella was newly added to the Japanese moth fauna. The larvae fed on the feather, fur, pellets, and skin and flesh attached to bird bones in the detritus.
