Pepper southern blight, caused by Sclerotium rolfsii, is a devastating soil-borne disease resulting in significant loss to pepper, Capsicum annuum L. production. Here, we isolated an antagonistic bacterial strain XQ-29 with antifungal activity against S. rolfsii from rhizospheric soil of pepper.
