摘要:
商品有机肥由于可能含镉( Cd), 并在施入后对水稻土中Cd的有效性具有“抑制”和“激活”的双重作用,导致施有机肥的稻米降Cd效应目前仍存在较大不确定性.通过选取湘东地区典型水稻土(紫泥田土种), 连续4 a定位监测了大田施用商品有机肥对双季稻稻米的降Cd效应,探索稻米Cd含量与双季稻不同生育期土壤Cd有效性、土壤因子( pH、土壤活性有机碳组分与铁氧化物)的关系.结果表明,施有机肥降低双季稻糙米Cd含量28% ~ 56%,且晚稻糙米Cd含量降幅( 43% ~ 56%)高于早稻糙米Cd含量的降幅( 28%~ 45%), 降幅的年际波动小.一方面,施有机肥也导致双季稻某些生育期(分蘖盛期自齐穗期)土壤有效态Cd含量平均下降6%~ 7%;土壤交换态Cd含量降低11%,土壤有机结合态Cd含量提高14%,直接反映土壤Cd有效性的降低.另一方面,施有机肥也稳定提升土壤pH值0.1 ~ 0.3个单位,促进土壤环境由酸性向微酸性发展,土壤活性有机碳组分(轻组有机碳、粗颗粒有机碳和细颗粒有机碳)含量大幅提升( 53%、77%和107%), 间接反映土壤Cd有效性的降低.本研究表明,紫泥田连续施有机肥后,土壤Cd有效性下降是双季稻米Cd含量降低的关键驱动因素.

摘要:
As a result of metal mining activities in Pakistan, toxic heavy metals (HMs) such as chromium (Cr) and lead (Pb) often enter the soil ecosystem, accumulate in food crops and cause serious human health and environmental issues. Therefore, this study examined the efficacy of biochar for contaminated soil remediation. Poplar wood biochar (PWB) and sugarcane bagasse biochar (SCBB) were amended to mine-contaminated agricultural soil at 3% and 7% (wt/wt) application rates. Lactuca sativa (Lettuce) was cultivated in these soils in a greenhouse, and uptake of HMs (Cr and Pb) as well as biomass produced were measured. Subsequently, health risks were estimated from uptake data. When amended at 7%, both biochars significantly (P<0.01) reduced plant uptake of Cr and Pb in amended soil with significant (P<0.01) increase in biomass of lettuce as compared to the control. Risk assessment results showed that both biochars decreased the daily intake of metals (DIM) and associated health risk due to consumption of lettuce as compared to the control. The Pb human health risk index (HRI) for adults and children significantly (P<0.01) decreased with sugarcane bagasse biochar applied at 7% rate relative to other treatments (including the control). Relative to controls, the SCBB and PWB reduced Cr and Pb uptake in lettuce by 69%, 73.7%, respectively, and Pb by 57% and 47.4%, respectively. For both amendments, HRI values for Cr were within safe limits for adults and children. HRI values for Pb were not within safe limits except for the sugarcane bagasse biochar applied at 7%. Results of the study indicated that application of SCBB at 7% rate to mine impacted agricultural soil effectively increased plant biomass and reduced bioaccumulation, DIM and associated HRI of Cr and Pb as compared to other treatments and the control. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
The shuttle effect of dissoluble sulfurous intermediates is the bottleneck in developing durable Li-S batteries. It is crucial to confine sulfurous species in cathodic chamber for utmost suppression of the polysulfide shuttle. Herein, a dual-trapping policy is formulated to solve the issue. The MnO2-decorated graphene aerogel (MG) is applied to modify the Celgard separator, and the I/N codoped graphene aerogel (ING) is prepared as the cathode sulfur host. Both the MG@Sep separator and the ING/S cathode could efficiently capture polysulfides and promote the utilization of active sulfur. As a consequence, the tailored Li-S cell with the MG@Sep+ING/S combination shows durable cycle stability in addition to high initial capacity as well as capacity retention. The used electrodes and the separator are all in good conditions after 200 cycles, and no shuttled sulfurous species can be observed on the anode. Therefore, it is hopeful to impulse Li-S battery engineering by optimizing such a dual-trapping policy. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

This study provides insights into the similarities and differences of degradation reactions by •OH/[Formula presented] at the molecular level for improved antibiotics removal. © 2019 Elsevier LtdHydroxyl radical (•OH)- and sulfate radical ([Formula presented])-based advanced oxidation technologies (AOTs) have been proven an effective method to remove antibiotics in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). This study aims to gain insights into kinetics and mechanisms of neutral sulfamethoxazole (SMX) degradation, a representative antibiotic, by •OH and [Formula presented] using an experimental and theoretical approach. First, the second-order rate constants (k) of SMX with •OH and [Formula presented] were determined to be (7.27 ± 0.43) × 109 and (2.98 ± 0.32) × 109 M−1 s−1 in UV/H2O2 and UV/persulfate (UV/PS) systems, respectively. The following theoretical calculations at the M06–2X level of theory revealed that addition of radicals to the benzene ring is the most favorable first-step reaction for both •OH and [Formula presented], but that [Formula presented] exhibits higher energy barriers and selectivity than •OH due to steric hindrance. We further analyzed subsequent reactions and, interestingly, our findings closely corroborated HOMO/LUMO distributions of SMX to the oxidation pathways. Finally, the estimation of energy consumption for UV alone, •OH–, and [Formula presented]–mediated oxidation processes was compared. These comparative results, for the first time, provide insights into the similarities and differences of degradation of SMX by •OH/[Formula presented] at the molecular level and can help improve antibiotics removal using radical based AOTs in WWTPs. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
Manganese oxides and carbon materials are both desirable catalysts for persulfate (PS) advanced oxidation processes in environmental remediation. Nevertheless, manganese oxides suffer from low reusability while carbon materials face the problem of limited catalytic efficiency. For the purpose of making full use of the advantages of the two materials as well as avoiding their shortcomings, carbon-coated Mn3O4 composites (Mn3O4/C) with a regular nanocube structure were designed to activate PS for the removal of organics, and the catalytic processes were deeply investigated. The catalyst prepared at 400 °C with a precursor ratio (glucose/KMnO4) of 0.5 exhibited the best catalytic performance along with satisfactory reusability owing to the protection of the outer carbon layer. According to experimental results and density functional theory calculation, there were van der Waals interaction and a part of the strong attraction between the interface of PS and Mn3O4/C, which could be enhanced by inner Mn3O4 and thus promoted the electron transfer between PS and carbon shell, and the defective edges of the carbon layer with hydroxyl (C−OH) groups could act as active sites for PS activation. Radical (SO4•−, •OH) and nonradical (1O2) oxidation processes both participated in the degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol, in which •OH was dominating. This study not only proposed a promising catalyst for the degradation of pollutants but also expanded research ideas for future PS activation mechanism studies by integrating the experiment and simulation. © 2020 American Chemical Society

Main findings: The Sb resistant bacterium impacted the fraction and quantity of IP on rice roots, and it decreased the Sb concentrations in rice shoots. © 2019 Elsevier LtdIron plaque (IP) is crucial in mitigating antimony (Sb) uptake and accumulation in rice plants, while, few studies focused on the effect of the iron plaque-associated Sb resistant bacteria on IP and Sb uptake into rice plants. Here, the effect of a Sb resistant bacterium (GenBank accession No. MH345840, with potential of conversion soluble Sb(III) into insoluble Sb2O3) on IP and Sb(III)/Sb(V) uptake under hydroponic condition was investigated. The results showed that in the presence of Sb(III), a large quantity of bacterial cells consorted with IP on rice roots, the bacterial inoculum altered the IP fraction distribution without enhancing its amount. However, it reduced Sb(III) uptake into rice roots. On contrary, seldom bacterial cells associated with the IP on rice roots in the presence of the Sb(V), the bacterial inoculum increased the IP amount slightly, and did not decline the Sb(V) uptake into rice roots. It also showed that the bacterial inoculum decreased Sb concentrations in rice shoots greatly in both Sb(III) and Sb(V) supplied treatments. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

Environmentally friendly and cost-effective techniques are required to reclaim land degraded during mining activities. Bioaccumulation of heavy metals (HMs) in vegetables grown on contaminated soils can increase human health risks. The potential effects of hardwood biochar (HWB) was assessed for chromium (Cr), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn) and lead (Pb) bioavailability in mine-contaminated soils and their subsequently bioaccumulation in crops and associated health risk. HWB was applied to chromium-manganese mine contaminated soils at the rate of 3% to investigate the efficiency of HWB for the second crop in crop rotation technique. Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum) and spinach (Spinaccia oleracea) were grown as second crop in the same pots which were already used for rice cultivation as first crop (without adding further amendments). Application of HWB decreased the concentrations of Cr, Zn, Cu, Mn, and Pb in cilantro by 25.5%, 37.1%, 42.5%, 34.3%, and 36.2%, respectively as compared to control. In spinach, the reduction in concentrations of Cr was 75.0%, Zn 24.1%, Cu 70.1%, Mn 78.0%, and Pb 50.5% as compared to control. HWB significantly (P < 0.01) reduced the HMs uptake in spinach cultivated in the amended soils as compared to the spinach in control. Bioaccumulation factor results also indicate that HWB decreased the bioaccumulation of selected HMs in cilantro and spinach, thus reducing health risks. Results of the study clearly demonstrate that the use of HWB can significantly reduce HMs in vegetables, associated health risk and improve food quality, therefore can be used as soil amendment for reclamation of mine-degraded soils. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
As one of China's emerging urban agglomerations, the Changzhutan urban area is suffering from regional composite air pollution. Previous studies mainly focus on single cities or world-class urban agglomerations, which cannot provide a scientific basis for air pollution in emerging urban agglomerations. This paper proposes the latest high-resolution emission inventory through the emission factor method and compares the results with the rest of the urban agglomeration. The emission inventory shows that the estimates for sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOX), particulate matter 10 (PM10), particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and ammonia (NH3) emission are 132.5, 148.9, 111.6, 56.5, 119.0, and 72.0 kt, respectively. From the 3 x 3 km emission grid, the spatial difference of air pollutant emissions in the Changzhutan urban agglomeration was more obvious, but the overall trend of monthly pollutant discharge was relatively stable. Depending on the source apportionment, SO42-, OC, and NO3- are the main chemical constituents of PM2.5, accounting for 13.06, 8.24, and 4.84 μg/m3, respectively. Simultaneously, industrial emissions, vehicle exhaust, and dust are still three main sources that cannot be ignored. With the support of these data, the results of this study may provide a reference for other emerging urban agglomerations in air quality. © 2020 by the authors.

A piscicide, rotenone (RT), is frequently used for clear and management of aquatic systems such as fish pond, and even for illegal fishing throughout the world. The effects of RT on submerged macrophytes remain elusive although the effects of RT on many kinds of animals are well documented. We wanted to determine the effects of RT on the growth and metabolism of three submerged plants (Vallisneria natans, Myriophyllum spicatum, Potamogeton maackianus) and try to find the reasons of these effects. The results showed that the shoot height, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, root:shoot ratios, contents of soluble protein and soluble carbohydrate of the three tested submerged plants were significantly negatively affected by RT and the effects were different among the studied species. Furthermore, pH rised a little and light transmission was greatly reduced in the water with RT treatment. We think that the negative effects of RT on the growth and metabolism of submerged species is partially attributing to the lower light caused by RT application. Accordingly, we highlight that submerged species may be greatly suppressed by RT, and we should apply RT in water ecosystems with great caution. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
It is crucial to explore the source, formation process and interdependence of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) to reduce their risk on public health. In this investigation, a source water was chlorinated to evaluate the initial formation rates and the maximum yields of trichloromethane (TCM), dichloroacetic acid (DCAA), and trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) based on a hyperbola model. The results showed that TCM achieved the highest initial formation rate and maximum theoretical concentration compared with DCAA and TCAA. The TCM yield can be used to forecast the yields of DCAA and TCAA throughout the whole reaction process, and the yields of chloral hydrate (CH), dichloroacetonitrile (DCAN) and 1,1,1-trichloropropanone (1,1,1-TCP) within the initial reaction stage. Besides, the raw water, settled water and filtered water collected from a drinking water treatment plant were divided into five fractions, respectively, by ultrafiltration membranes to evaluate their DBP formation after chlorination. Compared with the medium molecular weight species, high and low molecular weight organic matters exhibited relatively high specific regulated and unregulated DBP yields (expressed as μg/mg C), respectively. Humic acid-like compositions predominantly contributed to regulated DBP yields, while soluble microbial by-product-like compounds preferentially generated DCAN. The correlation study revealed that the TCM could also serve as an indicator for the measured DBPs from chlorination of sample fractions with different molecular weight. Finally, it was found that the theoretical cytotoxicity was enhanced during chlorination of filtered water compared with chlorination of settled water. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
Eutrophication of water bodies caused by excessive phosphate discharge has become a serious environmental issue. In order to develop a easily separable adsorbent to effectively remove phosphate from water, La(OH)3-modified magnetic cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4) nanocomposites (Lax-CF) were synthesized by coprecipitation assisted hydrothermal method. The La2-CF with the mass ratio of La(OH)3 to CoFe2O4 of 2:1 exhibited the largest adsorption capacity of 104.01 mg P/g and prominent magnetic properties. Batch experiments showed that pseudo second-order model and Langmuir model matched well adsorption kinetic and isotherm, respectively. Moreover, the excellent adsorption performance of La2-CF can be attributed to the following mechanism: (i) protonated and positively charged adsorbent adsorbed the phosphate by electrostatic attraction; (ii) the ligand exchange between the hydroxyl group and the phosphate resulted in the formation of an inner sphere complex, thereby enhancing the adsorption capacity for phosphate. It was worth noting that La2-CF exhibited high stability and optimal adsorption selectivity to phosphate when the competitive anions were added with the pH in the range of 3.0–9.0. Besides, the adsorption efficiency decreased slightly and remained above 80% after 6 cycles, suggesting excellent reusability of this adsorbent. This work provided a remarkable reference for the research of phosphate adsorption materials with high selectivity and stability. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

为了解稻田土壤中是否存在稳定的土壤有机碳(C)、氮(N)和磷(P)比值,基于亚热带区110个水稻土剖面和587个发生层的土壤调查数据库,在区域尺度上分析了典型水稻土C∶ N∶ P比值的生态化学计量学特征,并应用相关分析和冗余分析,研究水稻土C∶ N∶ P比值与土壤-环境因子(地形和母质、土壤发生层、土壤类型和土壤理化性质)的关系.结果显示,亚热带区稻田土壤C∶ N、C∶ P和N∶ P的剖面加权平均值分别为12. 6、49和3. 9,C∶ N∶ P为38∶ 3. 2∶ 1.不同母质起源、不同土壤亚类和不同发生层的水稻土C∶ N变异相对较小;但C∶ P和N∶ P的变异很大,两者均值也远低于全球(186和13. 1)和中国土壤(136和9. 3)的C∶ P和N∶ P的平均水平.尽管稻田土壤剖面的C∶ N∶ P相对不稳定,但由于稻田表土生物与环境相互作用强烈,表土 C∶ N相对稳定(14. 2).这反映长期水耕熟化作用下,稻田表土中C和N仍存在紧密的耦合作用.然而,在稻田土壤剖面上,C∶ P和N∶ P并不稳定,SOC与全P含量、全N与全P含量也无显著相关性,表明环境变化可能导致土壤C∶ N∶ P解耦.地形、土壤质地、氧化铁和容重是调控稻田土壤剖面C∶ N∶ P的关键土壤环境因子.

摘要:
为了确保细菌对镉砷复合污染土壤的修复效果,对细菌进行固定化处理.本研究将细菌悬液(Delftia sp.B9,B9)、玉米秸秆生物炭(corn stalks biochar,CSB)以及玉米秸秆生物炭-细菌复合体(corn stalks biochar-bacteria complex,B-CSB)作为3种吸附材料,探究3种材料对镉和砷的吸附特性及pH对3种材料去除水中镉砷离子性能的影响,进行了等温吸附模型拟合,并采用扫描电镜(SEM)、傅里叶红外变换光谱(FT-IR)和X射线光电子能谱分析(XPS)对3种材料进行表征分析,同时探究添加B9、CSB和B-CSB对土壤中镉和砷形态变化的影响.结果表明,3种材料对Cd~(2+)的饱和吸附量分别为49.43、82.68和75.38mg·g~(-1);对As的饱和吸附量分别为24.67、42.92和34.03mg·g~(-1).添加B-CSB可使土壤中的弱酸可溶态Cd显著下降,残渣态Cd显著增加;铁型砷含量显著减少,残渣态砷含量增加.B-CSB是一种更有效地修复镉砷复合污染的材料.

摘要:
Gas-pressurized (GP) and atmospheric (AP) torrefaction of municipal sewage sludge were carried out under pure nitrogen and 9%-oxygen nitrogen atmosphere, in order to investigate the effects of reactor and oxygen content on the physicochemical properties, combustion/pyrolysis characteristics and heavy metal availability of solid products. Compared with the solid products from AP torrefaction, the GP torrefied sludge had higher ash content, lower H/C ratio and better hydrophobicity. The oxidative torrefaction produced torrefied sludge of similar properties (except for higher heating value) as normally torrefied sludge in AP and GP, respectively. The activation energy (Ea) required for torrefied sewage sludge (TSS) pyrolysis was 23.56–37.07 kJ/mol by the Coats–Redfern method. Comprehensive combustion characteristics of GP torrefied sewage sludge obtained at torrefaction temperature of 200 °C were much higher than those obtained at torrefaction temperature of 300 °C. Interestingly, GP torrefaction can significantly promote the transformation of heavy metals (e.g. Pb, Zn and Cd) into the residual fraction. The secondary interaction between volatiles and solids in GP torrefaction via gas-pressure-induced deoxygenation behavior dominated the difference of derived-solid products from GP torrefaction and AP torrefaction. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
Ever-growing application of engineering nanoparticles in many sectors of the society requires efficient methods to extract them from soil and sediment, for the sake of environmental protection. In this study, we develop a new method which uses sodium pyrophosphate solution (TSPP, Na4P2O7) as extratant to extract gold nanoparticle (AuNPs) from soil and sediment under optimized parameters through vortexing, water bath oscillation, ultrasonic bath and precipitation. SP-ICP-MS was used for the detection of number concentration, mass concentration and size distribution of AuNPs in soil. UV irradiation was innovatively used to directly degrade soil organic matter to improve the recovery of AuNPs due to their low recovery rate in rich organic soils. It could be found that the mass fraction recovery increased from 36% (without UV digestion) to 83% (with 48h UV digestion). The extraction method is versatile for different coating layers and wide-ranging particle sizes in real soil and sediment. Therefore, the rapid and efficient characterization and quantification of AuNPs in soil and sediment are achieved, and the researches on the extraction method of AuNPs and their behavior and toxicity assessment in soil environment can be enriched. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

摘要:
The presence of excessive pollutants in soil and water caused by the fast development of industry has been a challenge for the innovation of environmental remediation technologies. Nano-sized iron sulfide (FeS) particles have aroused researchers’ attention for environmental remediation over the decade owing to their high reactivity and large specific surface area. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review on the evolution of FeS nanoparticles for environmental decontamination. The synthesis for bare nano-sized FeS particles via physicochemical and biological methods, the modification for nano-sized FeS particles by coating stabilizers and loading supporting materials are described in this review. What's more, the applications of nano-scale FeS in soil and water remediation are also discussed, including the removal of halogenated hydrocarbon, radionuclide, heavy metals, and metalloid. Meanwhile, the interaction mechanisms, namely adsorption and redox reaction between contaminants and nano-sized FeS and the effect of remediation conditions have been summarized in this review. Moreover, some future research needs are also stated such as researching the fate of FeS nanoparticle after injecting into soil and water, enhancing the mobility of nano-sized FeS in soil and water, and measuring the toxicity to the organisms. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

Arsenic mobility in soils, sediments and groundwater systems is strongly controlled by adsorption occurring at iron oxide/water interfaces, and the extent of this adsorption may be influenced by the presence of natural organic matter (NOM). This study aims to investigate the adsorption of As(III) and As(V) onto coprecipitates made with ferrihydrite (Fh) and humic acid (HA) with two organic carbon (OC) loadings of 5 and 15 wt% OC. We show that the coprecipitation of HA with Fh can significantly reduce the retention of both As(III) and As(V) over a wide pH range (4–11), and with increased OC loading, there is reduced arsenic adsorption. On pure Fh, As(III) is adsorbed to a greater extent than As(V) at pH > 6.5 (the crossover pH), whereas the crossover pH shifts to more acidic pH in the presence of HA, implying that the binding of As(III) is more favorable than As(V) in the presence of NOM. Both As(III) and As(V) are complexed with the ferric hydroxyl functional groups, and no ternary Fh-HA-As complexes are detected. We observe that ∼40% of the adsorbed As(III) is oxidized to As(V) on pure Fh, compared to only ∼29% of As(III) oxidation on the Fh-HA coprecipitate, indicating that NOM hinders As(III) oxidation on iron (hydr)oxide. The results of this study suggest that NOM interacts with arsenic in ways that promote arsenic mobility and especially promote the mobility of arsenate relative to arsenite, which is of great significance for evaluating the migration and bioavailability of arsenic in both natural and contaminated environments. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

New biochar-based materials were synthesized via iron salt loading on biochar (derived from bamboo and poplar) or activated biochar and were used for Cr (VI) removal from aqueous solution. Surface morphology structure characterizations revealed that KOH-activated biochar possessed a large surface area and porosity with uniform distribution of iron particles on the biochar's surface. In particular, X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns indicated that biochar originating from poplar were rich in CaCO3, which led iron salts to load more uniformly. The comparison adsorption experiments were investigated, including the effects of the initial Cr (VI) concentration, contact time and initial pH value on the Cr (VI) removal. The highest Cr (VI) adsorption capacity (25.68 mg/g) appeared on iron-loaded activated biochar (Fe/PBC-ND), which surpassed the capacity for iron-unloaded activated biochar (PBC-ND, 5.4 mg/g) and was accompanied by an increase in removal efficiency from 12% to 56%. The kinetic data and isotherm data of iron-loaded activated biochar (Fe/PBC-ND) fit well with the Elovich model and Freundlich model, which implies that the adsorption process had higher activation energy. The Cr (VI) adsorption through an iron-loaded activated biochar mechanism had synergistic effects of chemical and physical reactions, including electrostatic attraction, reduction, coprecipitation and pore accommodation according to Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and XRD analysis. Therefore, the iron loading and KOH-activated method could potentially broaden the application of biomass-derived adsorbents for practical treatment of Cr (VI)-containing wastewater. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

摘要:
The charge separation and transfer are critical steps during the photoelectrochemical processes. In this paper, we focus on the interfacial properties within the heteropolyacid (denoted as PW12) modified WO3 heterojunction film synthesized by an epitaxial growth method. The characterizations show that heteropolyacid is formed on the surface of WO3 plates with less interfacial defects between PW12 and WO3. The PW12/WO3 photoanodes synthesized via the in-situ method display a photocurrent density of 0.65 mA/cm(2) at 1.23 V vs. RHE, which exhibits 1.6 times as much as the bare WO3. And the composite achieves the maximum value of 1.52 mA/cm(2) at 1.8 V vs. RHE, while those of PW12/WO3 films prepared by a dip-coating method and pristine WO3 films are just 1.10 and 0.85mA/cm(2). The improvements in PEC performances of PW12/WO3 photoanodes (in-situ) were attributed to the higher electron transmission rate and longer electron lifetime resulted from the less interfacial defects. Moreover, the PW12/WO3 film was treated with TiCl4 solution to form a TiO2/PW12/WO3 ternary heterojunction, which exhibits a higher photocurrent density of 1.89 mA/cm(2). Photobioreactor is deemed to be one of limiting factors for the commercial application of wastewater treatment based on microalgae cultivation. In this study, a novel Flat-Plate Continuous Open Photobioreactor (FPCO-PBR) was developed to treat piggery biogas slurry. The operation parameters, microbial stability and nutrient recovery potential of FPCO-PBR were investigated. Results showed that the appropriate influent mode for FPCO-PBR was multi-point or spraying mode. The optimal hydraulic retention time and interval time for biomass harvesting of FPCO-PBR were both 2 d. Nitrogen and phosphorus recovery rate were 30 mg L−1 d−1 and 7 mg L−1 d−1 respectively under optimal operating parameters. Microbial diversity remained relatively stable in FPCO-PBR. Biomass production rate of FPCO-PBR was 0.47 g L−1 d−1 under optimal operating parameters. The revenue generated from biomass was estimated to be 15.06 $ kg−1, which means that treating one ton of wastewater can generate $ 7.08 in revenue. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd
