Engineering cation vacancies to improve the luminescence properties of Ca14Al10Zn6O35: Mn4+ phosphors for LED plant lamp

摘要:
In the recent years, Mn4+-doped phosphors for indoor plant cultivation have received extensive concern owing to the far-red emission that can match well with the absorption spectra of plant pigments. Whereas, many Mn4+-doped phosphors still face some challenges such as poor light efficiency and low thermal stability. It is an effective way to resolve these problems via cation vacancies engineering. Herein, the Ca14-xAl10Zn6-yO35: Mn4+ phosphors are successfully synthesized by combustion method. The luminescence intensity of Ca14-xAl10Zn6-yO35: Mn4+ phosphor is enhanced through engineering Ca2+ and Zn2+ vacancies according to the charge compensation mechanism. The optimal content of each Ca2+ and Zn2+ vacancy is equal to be 0.3. Furthermore, the defect formation is accompanied with lattice distortion, which plays a vital role in driving the excited phonon traps to reduce the energy loss by non-radiation transitions. Therefore, the thermal stability of Ca14-xAl10Zn6-yO35: Mn4+ phosphor is also improved via engineering cation vacancies. In addition, the Ca14-xAl10Zn6-yO35: Mn4+ phosphors can be effectively excited by blue light and it exhibits far-red emission due to the Mn4+ spin-forbidden E-2 -> (4)A(2) transition. The results suggest that the Ca14-xAl10Zn6-yO35: Mn4+ phosphors can have a tremendous potential in indoor plant cultivation.

Double elastic shock waves are rarely observed in two-dimensional (2D) materials and normally unexpected for elastically isotropic 2D crystals such as graphene. With large-scale molecular dynamics simulations, we show that in single-crystal graphene shock-loaded along nonzigzag and nonarmchair directions, double elastic shock waves (quasilongitudinal and quasitransverse) can emerge. Quantitative acoustic wave equation analysis reveals that shock-induced symmetry reduction in lattice, as well as in elastic stiffness tensor, gives rise to the normally unexpected quasitransverse wave following the quasilongitudinal wave.

摘要:
In recent years, photocatalytic technology has been widely studied as an environmental restoration technology and energy production technology to solve the two crises of energy shortage and environmental pollution. Meanwhile, with the continuous research and improvement in photocatalysis technology, it has been found that the interaction between microorganisms and photocatalysts has good application prospects. In general, the interaction between photocatalysts and microorganisms can be summarized as follows: first of all, in terms of environmental pollution control, photocatalysts can damage microorganisms and sterilize them; secondly, in the production of energy materials, photocatalysts can couple with microorganisms to produce energy or degrade pollutants more efficiently; thirdly, in the preparation of photocatalysts, microorganisms can help the construction of photocatalysts. Although the relationship between microorganisms and photocatalysts is very important and significant, related reviews about this are rare. Therefore, in this paper, we have summarized the interaction between microorganisms and photocatalysts, the mechanism and application of photocatalysts in microorganism damage, and the mechanism and application of photocatalysts and microorganism synergism, and the preparation of photocatalysts by biological methods was also reviewed. Moreover, the problems and challenges that should be faced and addressed in future research are discussed. This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.

摘要:
The demand for clean and renewable energy has promoted the rapid development of state-of-the-art energy storage electrochemical systems. Vanadium redox flow batteries attract much more attentions due to low cost and high security, unfortunately the low catalytic activity of electrodes for vanadium ion redox process is the main barrier to achieve a high efficiency. This work proposes a novel composite electrode derived from Bacillus mycoides to overcome the dilemma between high degree of graphitization and uniform heteroatom doping. Consequently, this composite electrode simultaneously achieves rapid charge migration and high electrocatalytic activity and enhances the vanadium ion redox reaction on porous lamellar carbon (PLC) materials. Compared with the pristine electrode, the potential polarization for V(IV)//(V) and V(II)/V(III) redox couples on PLC electrode decrease by 254 mV and 278 mV, respectively. Moreover, a high stability for cycling continuously for over 1000 cycles at a high current density of 200 mA cm(-2) and a high energy efficiency can be realized based on PLC electrode. This work not only paves the way to achieve high energy efficiency of vanadium redox flow batteries, but also provides a feasible and novel way to design carbon materials with high catalytic activity and high electronic conductivity.

摘要:
A simple and sensitive electrochemical biosensor for acrylamide (AA) detection based on hemoglobin (Hb) entrapped in ionic liquid-carbon paste was constructed. The Hb-carbon ionic liquid paste electrode (Hb/CILPE) was studied and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical method. The surface passivation of the Hb/CILPE could be achieved by the addition of acrylamide molecule, which caused the lower current response value owing to the adduct formed by acrylamide and Hb as a result of the reaction between the α-NH2 group and the N-terminal valine of Hb. The experimental conditions such as pH value of supporting electrolyte, pulse increment and concentrated time of AA was examined. Under the optimum conditions, the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) responses of Hb/CILPE toward AA was evaluated in a good linear range from 1.0 × 10−11 to 1.0 × 10−5 M, with a detection limit of 5.0 × 10−12 M at S/N = 3. This biosensor can be successfully applied to the determination of AA in a real sample without complex pretreatment. Compared with other electrochemical methods for detecting AA, the prepared electrochemical biosensor exhibited advantages of simple preparation, easy surface renewal, better reproducibility and satisfactory stability. © 2019

摘要:
By using pyridinium tribromide as the bromo source, an efficient and practical protocol for the synthesis of C3-brominated imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines through ultrasound-promoted and Na<sub>2</sub>CO<sub>3</sub>-mediated regioselective bromination of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines has been developed. This method effectively avoids the use of metal catalysts and harsh reaction conditions, and shows attractive characteristics such as operational simplicity, broad substrate scope with good to excellent yields, ease of scale-up and high energy efficiency.

摘要:
The kinetics and mechanism of the reduction of manganese dioxide ore by calcium lignosulfonate (CLS) in acid solution were investigated. The results showed that the reducing process mainly occurred after the adsorption and then decomposition of CLS by ore and the concentration of sulphuric acid exerted an enhancing effect on both CLS adsorption and manganese extraction. The effects of leaching temperature, the mass ratio of CLS to MnO2 in ore, concentration of sulphuric acid as well as leaching time on per cent leached of Mn were also discussed. The experimental data were well interpreted with a shrinking core model of internal diffusion, and an overall kinetic model was established. The reaction rate constant was found to be proportional to the mass ratio of CLS to MnO2 in ore and concentration of sulphuric acid, and the apparent activation energy was determined to be 69.4 kJ mol−1 by using Arrhenius expression. © 2020, © 2020 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

摘要:
The pursuit for batteries with high specific energy provokes the research of high-voltage/capacity cathode materials with superior stability and safety as the alternative for lithium iron phosphate. Herein, using the sol-gel method, a lithium vanadium phosphate with higher average discharge voltage (3.8 V, vs. Li~+/Li) was obtained from a single source for Mg~(2+) and Cl~- co-substitution and uniform carbon coating, and a nearly theoretical capacity (130.1 mA h g~(-1)) and outstanding rate performance (25 C) are acquired together with splendid capacity retention (80%) after 650 cycles. This work reveals that the well-sized anion and cation substitution and uniform carbon coating are of both importance to accelerate kinetic performance in the context of nearly undisturbed crystal structure for other analogue materials. It is anticipated that the electrochemistry comprehension will shed light on preparing cathode materials with high energy density in the future.

Germanium (Ge) is a widely distributed but rare element on earth. Organic germanium is the most widely used form of germanium. Compared to the common metal (mercury, cadmium, lead, etc.), organic germanium is much less toxic to humans than others. Since its discovery in 1886, organic germanium and relative compounds have caused many medically related problems across the globe. In most cases, organic germanium exists in the natural environment in an oxidation state. The size of organic germanium and its compounds is extremely small in natural water, for which organic germanium can easily enter the environment through the flow of water. Because organic germanium owns unique chemical properties and is potentially ecotoxic, so there are have special environmental problems. Considering the fact that people does not know much about organic germanium, along with the lack of systematic research, this paper starts with a brief introduction of the chemical composition, distribution, and threat to human health of organic germanium. Then, the new and common technologies for the recovery and removal of germanium as referred to in various literatures introduced and with detail description of their performance, advantages, disadvantages, and applications. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in a variety of biological processes, and the accurate detection of miRNAs is of great importance for early diagnosis of various cancers. Herein, we have developed a highly sensitive method for the intracellular imaging of miRNAs based on a palindromic probe-induced strand displacement amplification (pSDA). The sensing element is a partly complementary hybrid consisting of two DNA components: one fluorescent dye-labeled signaling probe containing a palindromic sequence and loop-based target recognition site and one quencher moiety-attached locking probe. In the presence of target miRNA, the target species can hybridize with the loop site and release the terminal palindromic fragment, initiating the pSDA reaction. Thus, a considerable amount of fluorescent moieties are spatially separated from the quenchers, generating a dramatically enhanced fluorescence signal. As a result, the target miRNAs can be quantified down to 25 pM with the linear response range over four orders of magnitude. The detection specificity is high enough to eliminate the interference from nontarget miRNAs and other biospecies co-existing in samples, and thus the diseased cells are easily distinguished from healthy cells. Strikingly, the pSDA-based system possesses the desirable capability to discriminate tumor cells from healthy cells, indicating a promising diagnostic tool for the detection of cancers and other diseases in early stage.

摘要:
We report the ductile-brittle transitions and their reliances on specific surface area (gamma), for the bicontinuous and open-cell nanoporous (NP) Cu in tension, using molecular dynamics simulations. With an increase of gamma, NP Cu undergo the first ductile-to-brittle (gamma <= 2.13 nm(-1)) and subsequent brittle-to-ductile (gamma <= 2.13 nm(-1)) transitions. Two different plasticity modes are governing such two ductile-brittle transitions: dislocation activities inhibition for the former and dislocation networks formation contributes to the latter. Serving as the origin of dislocations/stacking faults, the surface characteristic plays a key role in such ductile-brittle transition and deformation modes. (C) 2019 Acta Materialia Inc. A Bronsted acid-promoted sulfuration/annulation reaction for the one-pot synthesis of bis-substituted thiazoles from benzylamines, acetophenones, and sulfur powder has been developed. One C-N bond and multi C-S bonds were selectively formed in one pot. The choice of the Bronsted acid was the key to the high efficiency of this transformation under metal-free conditions.

摘要:
The radical–radical coupling reaction is an important synthetic strategy. In this study, the iron-catalyzed radical–radical cross-coupling reaction based on the decarboxylation of keto acids and decarbonylation of aliphatic aldehydes to obtain valuable aryl ketones is reported for the first time. Remarkably, when tertiary aldehydes were used as carbonyl sources, ketone esters were selectively obtained instead of ketones. The gram-scale preparation of aryl ketone through this strategy was easily achieved by using only 3 mol % of the iron catalyst. As a proof-of-concept, the bioactive molecule flurprimidol was synthesized in two steps by using this strategy. © 2020 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim

摘要:
NASICON-structured Na3V2(PO4)3 possessing three-dimensional channel for sodium ion migration demonstrates promising prospect as cathode for sodium ion battery due to good thermal stability and large theoretical capacity. Herein, carbon encapsulation and chlorine doping are employed to improve sodium storage performances of Na3V2(PO4)3 through sol-gel method. Carbon-encapsulated chlorine-doped Na3V2(PO4)3 composites reveal raised electrochemical performance. Among composites, Na3V2(PO4)2.9Cl0.3@C ([email protected]/Cl-30) with proper chlorine exhibits the best performance. [email protected]/Cl-30 delivers the discharge capacity of 104.2, 86.4, 52.2 mAh g−1 at 40, 1000, 4000 mA g−1, severally, much higher than those of chlorine-undoped composite ([email protected], 74.2, 46.4, 21.1 mAh g−1). Moreover, [email protected]/Cl-30 demonstrates excellent cycling performance (capacity retention: 93.0%, 500 cycles, 800 mA g−1). Outstanding performances is attributed to nanostructure from sol-gel route and synergetic effect of carbon encapsulation and chlorine doping for Na3V2(PO4)3. Nanostructure can shorten migration pathway of sodium ion. Carbon encapsulation and chlorine doping raise electrical and ionic conductivity, respectively. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

As an anode with ultrahigh capacity (4200 mAh g−1), silicon (Si) has inherent defects, such as drastic volume change (~300%) and poor conductivity. To cope with these problems, constructing a rigid shell (e.g. TiO2) on the surface of Si particles is an effective method. Typically, monoclinic titanium dioxide (TiO2-B) has the more excellent electrochemical performance among the various crystalline of TiO2 (anatase, rutile, etc.) for its open channel and characteristic pseudocapacitive effect. In addition, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are good conductor of electricity. It is hopeful to increase the conductivity of the Si anode by adding CNTs. In this work, therefore, a Si@TiO2-B/CNTs composite is prepared by hydrothermal method. The composite exhibits superior electrochemical properties during the half-cell test (1184 mAh g−1 under 0.1 A g−1 at 200th cycles). Furthermore, the electrochemical kinetics of the materials were studied by cyclic voltammetry, which demonstrated that coating TiO2-B could increase the capacitive effects of the composite (68.75%). © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

Reworked synthetic polymers (RSPs) are industrial raw materials obtained from waste synthetic polymer (WSP) through physical or chemical means. Different reworked synthetic polymers have different pyrolysis characteristics and synergistic reactions during co-pyrolysis process. The effect of reworked polyamide 6 (PA6), thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), black polypropylene (PP1) and green polypropylene (PP2) co-pyrolysis on the yield and quality of pyrolysis products has been conducted. The results show that co-pyrolysis promotes the degradation of RSPs into more gases. Co-pyrolysis improves the light component of liquid oils and reduces the O content, which is beneficial for liquid fuels. Except for TPE + PP2, co-pyrolysis of RSPs increased di-aromatics, poly-aromatics and aromatic compounds. TPE + PP2 and PP1+PP2 produced high aliphatic compounds including the long chain aliphatic compounds without sufficient degradation, which resulted in the contents of over C-20 were high. In the pyrolysis gases, the relative content of H-2 was increased in all mixed RSPs co-pyrolysis, which can be used as clean fuels. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shown that new components were found and old components disappeared in co-pyrolysis, indicating chemical reaction had occurred between two different types of RSPs. Here, we present the microemulsion method using sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate and hydrofluoric acid for the in situ synthesis of brightly luminescent CsPbBr3/CsPb2Br5 composite nanocrystals (NCs) in aqueous solution. The obtained CsPbBr3/CsPb2Br5 composite NCs exhibit a photoluminescence quantum yield of 77.0% and a full width at half maximum of 16.0 nm. And solid-state back-lighting devices were fabricated by combining CsPbBr3/CsPb2Br5 composite NCs and red-emitting K2SiF6:Mn4+ phosphors with blue light. The as-fabricated device exhibits a wide color gamut of about 95.8% of the Rec. 2020. This work provides a green, low-cost, and in situ water-phase route to synthesize high-quality cesium lead halide NCs for their practical applications in solid-state back-lighting devices. A carbon-coated Magnéli phase Ti4O7 composite has been successfully synthesised, via modified carbonthermal reduction of amorphous TiO2, which was prepared from hydrolysis of titanium sulphate and polyvinyl alcohol, at a relatively low temperature and fast reaction rate. Moreover, the effect of heat treatment temperature and time on the reduced phases is revealed. Despite removal of oxide ions, scanning electron microscopic images clearly show the obtained carbon-coated Ti4O7 composite retains well the spherical morphology of the precursor, and the high-pressure pelleted treatment effectively inhibits the growth of the final product during the heat treatment process. In addition, the prepared composite with mesopore structure exhibits a Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (BET) surface area as high as 84.495 m2 g−1 and good electrochemical stability in alkaline electrolyte, as well as some oxygen reduction reaction catalytic activity. The results presented in this work open an avenue for its potential electrochemical applications. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2020

Blue-violet light can not only enhance the total content of biomass and glucoside but also enrich the taste of the fruit. Thus, it is meaningful to study the blue-violet luminescent materials for plant cultivation. In this study, titanium (IV) -activated CaYAlO4 (CYAO) phosphors were synthesized by conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray powder diffraction was employed to analyze the crystal-structure of CYAO. It is found that the doped Ti4+ ions do not change obviously the crystal structure of phosphors. Upon 246 nm excitation, CaYAl1-xO4:xTi(4+) phosphors exhibit broad blue-violet emission band peaking at 395 nm, which can be attributed to the charge transfer of Ti4+-O2-. Moreover, this phosphor exhibits strong thermal stability. The luminescence emission intensity at 150 degrees C maintained about 91 mol% of its initial value at room temperature. Additionally, the electron transition process and concentration quenching mechanism of CaYAl1-xO4:xTi(4+)are discussed in detail. The excellent luminescent properties indicate that CaYAl1-xO4:xTi(4+) phosphor may have promising application in indoor plant cultivation. The development of nonprecious metal–nitrogen–carbon (M-N-C) materials with efficient metal utilization and abundant active sites for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is of great significance for fuel cells and metal–air batteries. Ultrasmall 2 D CoxZn2−x(benzimidazole)4 [CoxZn2−x(bim)4] bimetallic metal–organic framework (MOF) nanosheets (≈2 nm thick) are synthesized by a novel bottom-up strategy and then thermally converted into a core–shell structure of sub-5 nm Co nanodots (NDs) wrapped with 2 to 5 layers of Co,N-codoped graphene (Co@FLG). The size of the Co NDs in Co@FLG could be precisely controlled by the Co/Zn ratio in the CoxZn2−x(bim)4 nanosheet. As an ORR electrocatalyst, the optimized Co@FLG exhibits an excellent half-wave potential of 0.841 V (vs. RHE), a high limiting current density of 6.42 mA cm−2, and great stability in alkaline electrolyte. Co@FLG also has great ORR performance in neutral electrolyte, as well as in Mg–air batteries. The experimental studies and DFT calculations reveal that the high performance of Co@FLG is mainly attributed to its great O2 absorptivity, which is endowed by the abundant Co−Nx and pyridinic-N in the FLG shell and the strong electron-donating ability from the Co ND core to the FLG shell. This elevates the eg orbital energy of CoII and lowers the activation energy for breaking the O=O/O−O bonds. This work sheds light on the design and fabrication of 2 D MOFs and MOF-derived M-N-C materials for energy storage and conversion applications. © 2019 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
