Short-term alleviation of aluminum phytotoxicity by urea application in acid soils from south China

摘要：
A laboratory experiment was conducted to study effects of urea fertilizer on the chemical composition of soil solutions over time, and to determine Al toxicity as a function of rates of urea application. The experiment revealed that addition of urea fertilizer to soils caused drastic changes in soil pH during the hydrolysis and nitrification stages of urea transformation in the experiment. These pH changes, depending on the N rate of urea application and time courses, had variable effects on soil exchangeable Al, extracted with artificial solutions containing 1 mol l-1 KCl. The Al mobilization rate could be resolved into two phases: A declining phase for Al was attributed to the urea-induced hydrolysis while a second rising phase was dependent with the nitrification of added N fertilizer. The decreases in exchangeable Al reached the greatest in 4-7 days after fertilization, consistent with soil pH increase. Decreased Al availability had been observed as a consequence of increasing urea addition and soil pH when using Root elongation of maize seedlings as the estimators. Results from the present study demonstrate that urea fertilizer to the surface of soils may lead to a temporary immobilization of Al and, therefore, alleviated Al toxicity to plant seedlings. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd. 摘要：
Evolution of resistance by pests is the greatest threat to the continuous success of the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxins used in conventional sprays or in transgenic plants. The most common mechanism of insect resistance to Bt is reduced binding of toxins to target sites in the brush border membrane of the larval mid-gut. In this paper, binding experiments were performed with three I-125-Cry1A toxins and the brush border membrane vesicles from Cry1Ac resistant or susceptible strains of Helicoverpa armigera. The homologous competition test showed that there was no significant difference in Cry1Ac-binding affinity, but the concentration of Cry1Ac-binding sites dramatically decreased in the resistant strain (R-t decreased from 5.87 +/- 1.40 to 2.23 +/- 0.80). The heterologous competition test showed that there were three Cry1Ac-binding sites in the susceptible strain. Among them, site I bound with all three Cry1A toxins, site 2 bound with both Cry1Ab and Cry1Ac, and site 3 only bound with Cry1Ac. In the Cry1Ac resistant strain, the binding capability of site 1 with Cry1Ab decreased and site 2 did not bind with Cry1Ac. It is suggested that the absence of one binding site is responsible for H. armigera resistance to Cry1Ac. This result also showed that the resistance fitted the "mode 1" pattern of Bt resistance described previously. (c) 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

摘要：
The cell culture in a production medium in the dark is capable of producing a large quantity of shikonin and its derivatives, which were completely inhibited when the cell cultures were irradiated with continuous white light and blue light and partially repressed under continuous red light. The expressions of PAL1, 4CL1, and CYP98A6 were induced under continuous red, blue and white light. Transcript levels of HMGR and LDI2 gradually were decreased in the dark and under continuous red light, while no transcriptional product of LDI2 was detected under blue and white light. C4H2 and LePGT1 genes were constantly expressed irrespective of different light conditions. Among the genes studied, the expression of LDI2 was critical for light-regulated shikonin formation. The inducible expression of PAL1, 4CL1, and CYP98A6 as well as the inhibitory transcription of LDI2 mediated by continuous red light irradiation were likely accounted for the reduced accumulation of shikonin.

摘要：
The discrete-time analogues of bidirectional associative memory neural networks with periodic coefficients and distributed delays are formulated and studied. And by using the continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory, we derive the existence of periodic solution for the discrete-time BAM neural networks. And by constructing a appropriate Lyapunov-type sequence, we prove the global exponential stability of the periodic solution for the model. It is shown that the discrete-time analogues inherit the existence and global exponential stability of periodic solution for the continuous-time BAM neural networks. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results. © 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

摘要：
In this paper, a class of two-dimensional shunting inhibitory cellular neural networks with time-varying delays and variable coefficients as following system $$ \frac{{d}x_{ij}}{{d}t}=L_{ij}(t)-a_{ij}(t)x_{ij}-\sum_{C_{kl}\in N_r(i,j)}c_{ij}^{kl}(t)f_{kl}(x_{kl}(t-\tau_{kl}(t)))x_{ij}$$ is studied, which every cell has its own signal transmission function. We obtain two sufficient conditions about existence of a unique almost periodic solution for the system by way of exponential dichotomy and the Banach fixed point theorem, and point out the utilization occasion of every condition. Moreover, we prove that the almost periodic solution is global exponential stability by using of Halanay inequality. Two examples are given to illustrate that the criterion are feasible.

摘要：
The removal of hydrophobic organic compounds (HOCs) from soils and sediments by water flushing is often constrained by sorption interactions. The development of improved methods for remediation of contaminated soils has emerged as a significant environmental priority. Increasing HOCs desorption and mobility in soil using surfactants is considered to be one of the most suitable on-site techniques for soil remediation. A major concern regarding the use of surfactants for environmental restoration is the potential loss to the environment of large amounts of surfactant through sorption of nonionic types. A study was conducted to investigate whether surfactants and cyclodextrins can be used to enhance the transport of methyl-parathion in a contaminated soil. At aqueous concentrations of surfactants tested, the proportion of each surfactant sorbed to the soil increased with increasing surfactant concentrations. The maximal adsorbed mass is about 5130 and 14,200 μg/g for Brij 35 and Tween 80, respectively. In the case of nonionic surfactants, sorption attenuates surfactant effectiveness by increasing the organic carbon content of the soil matrix and retarding transport of methyl-parathion through batch and soil column experiments. However, in contrast with the surfactants, hydroxypropyl-β- cyclodextrin (HPCD) does not interact with the soil tested. The nonreactive nature of cyclodextrins, combined with its large affinity for HOCs suggests that it should have an advantage versus adsorbing surfactants for decreasing HOC distribution coefficients in subsurface systems. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd. 摘要：
Using cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COX1) mRNA as the internal control, a triplex reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) for detection of Potato virus Y (PVY) and Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) with co-amplification of COX1 from single specimens of various aphid species has been developed. Partial length cDNA of COX1 from green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), potato aphid, Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas), buckthorn aphid, Aphis nasturtii (Kaltenbach), and pea aphid, Acyrthosiphom pisum (Harris), was cloned and sequenced. These sequences, together with existing COX1 sequences from other aphid species capable or suspected to be capable of transmitting PVY and/or PLRV, were analyzed. The sequence identity between any two aphid species ranged from 97 to 100% at the putative protein level, and 89 to 94% at the nucleic acid level. Two highly conserved COX1 nucleotide sequence. stretches were selected to design universal primers Aph F and Aph R. This primer pair, together with two existing universal primer pairs (C1-J-2183 and C1-N-2329; Favret F and Favret R), were evaluated at the optimal annealing temperature using RNA from M. persicase, M. euphorbiae, and A. nasturtii. The Aph primer pair performed well in the monoplex RT-PCR but poorly in the triplex RT-PCR in the presence of the PVY- and PLRV-specific primers. On the other hand, the Favret and C I primer pairs performed well in both monoplex and triplex RT-PCR formats using single aphids of M. persicase, M. euphorbiae and A. nasturtii, demonstrating their suitability to indicate the successfulness of RT-PCR assays for PVY and PLRV. Using the Favret, PVY and PLRV primer sets, single aphids of M. persicase, M. euphorbiae and A. nasturtii that had been exposed to PLRV-infected and/or PVY-infected potato plants were assessed for their acquisition of the viruses by the triplex RT-PCR assay. Although majority (175/180) of the aphid samples produced the COX1 fragment, five aphid samples failed to produce either the COX1- or the virus-specific band, indicating failed RT-PCR in these samples. This method offers a sensitive tool for detection of viruliferous aphids combined to an effective quality control measure. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

摘要：
With radical global climate change and global warming, high temperature stress has become one of major factors exerting a major influence on crop production. In the cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)-growing areas of China, especially in the Yangtze River valley, unexpected periodic episodes of extreme heat stress usually occur in July and August, the peak time of cotton flowering and boll loading, resulting in lower boll set and lint yield. Breeding programs for screening high temperature-tolerant cotton germplasm and cultivars are urgent in order to stabilize yield in the current and future warmer weather conditions. In the present study, 14 cotton cultivars were quantified for in vitro pollen germination and pollen tube growth in response to temperatures ranging from 10 to 50 °C at 5 °C intervals. Different cotton genotypes varied in their in vitro pollen germination and pollen tube length responses to the different temperatures. Maximum pollen germination and pollen tube length ranged from 25.2% to 56.2% and from 414 to 682 μm, respectively. The average cardinal temperatures (Tmin, Topt, and Tmax) also varied among the 14 cultivars and were 11.8, 27.3, and 42.7 °C for pollen germination and 11.8, 27.8, and 44.1 °C for maximum pollen tube length. Variations in boll retention and boll numbers per plant in field experiments were found for the 14 cotton cultivars and the boll retention and boll retained per plant on 20 August varied considerably in different years according to weather conditions. Boll retention on 20 August was highly correlated with maximum pollen germination (R2 = 0.84) and pollen tube length (R2 = 0.64). A screening method based on principle component analysis of the combination of pollen characteristics in an in vitro experiment and boll retention testing in the field environment was used in the present study and, as a result, the 14 cotton cultivars could be classified as tolerant, moderately tolerant, moderately susceptible and susceptible to high temperature. © 2006 Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

E-钙粘素是在胚胎发育中最早表达的分子之一，它可以与Catenin家族成员形成钙粘素／Catenin复合物参与多种细胞功能，对于胚胎植入和胎盘发生具有重要作用．通过RT-PCR、免疫组织化学、细胞粘附分析等方法，在人正常妊娠和输卵管妊娠母胎界面上，发现E-钙粘素主要定位于绒毛细胞滋养层细胞和滋养层细胞柱，从滋养层细胞柱近端向远端，其蛋白质水平逐渐降低．正常胎盘组织中E-钙粘素水平在妊娠早期较高，妊娠中期直至分娩期均维持低水平．在体外培养的人正常胎盘细胞滋养层细胞系（NPC细胞）中，转化生长因子β（TGFβ1）显著上调E-钙粘素蛋白和mRNA的表达，并呈现时间和剂量依赖性，同时，TGFβ1促进NPC细胞之间的粘附．上述结果表明，胎盘中存在E-钙粘素的旁分泌调节机制，E-钙粘素可通过调节滋养层细胞粘附而参与细胞侵润的有节制调控．

摘要：
The chlorogenic acids in a methanolic extract of freeze-dried Hemerocallis (Chinese day lily) have been qualitatively profiled by LC-MS3. Three caffeoylquinic acids (3-CQA (I), 4-CQA (III) and 5-CQA (II)), three p-coumaroylquinic acids (3-pCoQA (IV), 4-pCoQA (VI) and 5-pCoQA (V)) and two feruloylquinic acids (3-FQA (VII) and 4-FQA (IX)) have been identified. The dominance of the 3-acyl and 4-acyl CGA relative to the 5-acyl isomer is unusual and makes this material a convenient source of these commercially non-available chlorogenic acids. A minor revision has been made to the structure-diagnostic hierarchical key previously developed for characterising chlorogenic acids by LC-MSn. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

介绍了几种聚氧乙烯型非离子表面活性剂的KI-I2分光光度法测定,讨论不同实验条件对测定的影响.结果表明,以碘-碘化钾溶液为显色剂的KI-I2分光光度法测定波长为500 nm, 显色时间为120 min, Brij35, Brij 30, Triton X-100和Tween-80工作曲线相关系数在0.9971～0.9995之间;检测范围分别为 0.2～25 mol/L、0.4～25 mol/L、1.5～50 mol/L和0.5～50 mg/L;操作简单,酸稳定性好,大部分盐类、非离子和阴阳表面活性剂、土壤腐植酸、土壤浸提液对测定的干扰小;易水解的Al^3＋和Fe^3＋对测定有较大的干扰,但加酸后即可消除.方法直接用于测定聚氧乙烯型非离子表面活性剂在土壤上的吸附等温线获得了满意的效果.

摘要：
The modification of bentonite clays by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB) surfactant via cation-exchange produces materials ("organo- clays") with an increased capacity for sorbing organic compounds such as pesticides. The sorption from solutions of two nonionic pesticides, methyl-parathion and carbaryl, by an organo-bentonite has been investigated. The pesticides are partitioned into the surfactant. The distribution coefficients, K ss, show a strong dependence on surfactant loading of the bentonite. The surfactant configuration at the clay surface has a marked influence on the effective volume and density of the bound surfactant. At low surfactant loadings, the K ss values increased, reached a maximum, and then decreased as the extent of loading increased. At low loading levels, the surfactant appears to form a monolayer (organic film) that effectively adsorbs the pesticides, resulting in very high K ss values. At high loadings, the sorbed surfactant appears to form a bulk-like medium that behaves essentially as a distribution phase. As a result, the K ss values decreased appreciably, and became less dependent on the CTMAB loading. Moreover, when the surfactant concentration in water was greater than the critical micelle concentration, the surfactant uptake on the clay reaches a plateau and an increasing fraction of the micelles remain in solution, together with the pesticides which bound to them. The competition for the pesticides between the aqueous micelles and the sorbed surfactant leads to a decrease in distribution coefficients. © Springer-Verlag 2006.

摘要：
Hybrid willows (Salix matsudana Koidz × Salix alba L.), weeping willows (Salix babylonica L.) and hankow willows (Salix matsudana Koidz) were exposed to potassium ferrocyanide to determine the potential of these plants to extract, transport and metabolize this iron cyanide complex. Young rooted cuttings were grown in hydroponic solution at 24.0 ± 0.5°C for 144 h. Ferrocyanide in solution, air, and aerial tissues of plants was analyzed spectrophotometrically. Uptake of ferrocyanide from the aqueous solution by plants was evident for all treatments and varied with plant species, ranging from 8.64 to 15.67% of initial mass. The uptake processes observed from hydroponic solution showed exponential disappearance kinetics. Very little amounts of the applied ferrocyanide were detected in all parts of plant materials, confirming passage of ferrocyanide through the plants. No ferrocyanide in air was found due to plant transpiration. Mass balance analysis showed that a large fraction of the reduction of initial mass in hydroponic solution was metabolized during transport within the plant materials. The difference in the metabolic rate of ferrocyanide between the three plant species was comparably small, indicating transport of ferrocyanide from hydroponic solution to plant materials and further transport within plant materials was a limiting step for assimilating this iron cyanide complex. In conclusion, phytoremediation of ferrocyanide by the plants tested in this study has potential field application. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2006.

摘要：
Caridina xiangnanensis, new species is described on the basis of specimens collected from Lingxiu Village, Rucheng County, Hunan Province, China. This new species can be distiguished from the closely related species, C. paracornuta Cai & Yang, by the narrower endopod of the male first pleopod, lacking a projection on the proximal region; a longer appendix interna; a shorter appendix interna of the male second pleopod; and the comparatively narrower scaphocerite. The objective of the study was to examine the effect of dietary thyroid hormone on performance and muscle protein accumulation of black-boned chickens. A total of 720 1-d-old birds was housed in 24 pens and assigned to 4 diets containing triiodothyronine (T3) at 0, 0.1, 0.3 or 0.5 mg/kg. The trial was split into starter (0 to 4 weeks) and grower (5 to 8 weeks) phases. At the beginning of the grower phase, each pen was split into two; one subgroup was fed basal diet (T3-) and the other continued with T3-added diet (T3+). Dietary T3 at 0.1 mg/kg improved average daily body weight gain until week 6 but retarded it thereafter. However, T3 at 0.5 mg/kg depressed growth throughout the whole period. During weeks 7 to 8, T3 retarded growth, whereas growth recovered when T3 was withdrawn from the diet. Birds fed the diet containing 0.1 mg/kg during weeks 0 to 4 and those receiving basal diet during weeks 5 to 8 showed the greatest thigh muscle growth, but this growth was depressed when they were fed the 0.5 mg/kg diet during weeks 0 to 8. Serum T3 concentration was increased, while thyroxine (T4) concentration was decreased by dietary T3 treatment at 2 weeks old. At 4 weeks old, T3 and T4 concentrations decreased. At 6 and 8 weeks old, among T3-treated groups the serum T3 concentration of the T3- group was higher than that of the T3+ group. In conclusion, dietary T3 improved weight gain and muscle growth of black-boned chickens before week 6, whereas supplementation depressed growth after 6 weeks. Optimum dietary T3 concentrations showed a carry-over effect on both body weight gain and thigh muscle growth. © 2006 British Poultry Science Ltd.

It is difficult to collect information over Gigabit networks for information audit. In the paper, the information audit system adopts the network processor to collect and analyze the date in the low level of network. Through taking an advanced research on current algorithm, some improvements of the Bayes categorization algorithm have been made as well as the proposal of a text categorization model of the minimal risk Bayes decision. In addition, it considers the risk probability of mistaking the related text for unrelated text during the text categorization. The experiments results show that it promotes the precision of text categorization. ©Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

摘要：
The phylogeny of nematode-endoparasitic Hirsutella species was studied based on morphology and DNA sequence analysis. Hirsutella vermicola is proposed as a new species that preys on bacteria-feeding nematodes and nonpathogenic or weakly pathogenic to plant-parasitic nematodes. It is distinguished from H. rhossiliensis by having shorter conidiogenous cells with a swollen base, helical necks and slightly wider conidia. Phylogenetic trees based on sequences of the ITS region, MAPK gene fragment, and the combined data revealed two clusters corresponding to these two species and thus supported the establishment of this new species.
