摘要:
Red mud and compost are two inexpensive and effective materials available for the in situ treatment of soil contaminated with heavy metals. In order to investigate the specific process involved, a detailed analysis of the synergistic effects of combined red mud and compost was carried out. The efficiency of three different treatment systems, namely compost (C), red mud (R), and a mixture of compost and red mud (R + C), on the movability, ecological risk, and biological effective Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb over time of incubation in agricultural soil was evaluated. Results showed that the pH, water extractable organic carbon (WEOC) and total organic carbon (TOC) showed significant changes after addition of these amendment materials to the target soil. The combination of red mud and compost mixture as amendment material (R + C) resulted in the largest reduction in efficiency of the available heavy metals. In addition, the microbial biomass in the treated soil increased after addition of the amendment materials, highest increase was observed with R + C. The results indicate that these amendment materials, especially R + C could lower the ecological risk of heavy metals in soil. ©2017 Elsevier Ltd

Several of the most prevalent etiological factors which contribute towards global death rates are associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which include a range of conditions such as angina, rheumatic heart disease, and venous thrombosis. Extensive research has been conducted into the role played by oxidative stress and inflammation in the functional transformations associated with the progression of CVDs, while the research findings from these investigations have been both fruitful and informative. In view of the adverse secondary effects that result from the clinical administration of many synthetic medications, research which explored the treatment of severe and long-lasting conditions, including CVDs, has primarily centered on the potential benefits displayed by natural agents, one of which is food protein-based bioactive peptides. Most importantly, previous research has revealed the possible benefits associated with these products' anti-inflammatory and antioxidant characteristics. In light of these considerations, this paper aims to review the degree to which ovotransferrin (otrf, also referred to as conalbumin) and otrf-derived peptides, including IRW, IQW, and KVREGT, are, by virtue of their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant characteristics, viable treatment agents for endothelial dysfunction and the prevention of CVD. ©2017 Shuang Chen et al.

P2X receptors are ATP-gated trimeric channels with important roles in diverse pathophysiological functions. A detailed understanding of the mechanism underlying the gating process of these receptors is thus fundamentally important and may open new therapeutic avenues. The left flipper (LF) domain of the P2X receptors is a flexible loop structure, and its coordinated motions together with the dorsal fin (DF) domain are crucial for the channel gating of the P2X receptors. However, the mechanism underlying the crucial role of the LF domain in the channel gating remains obscure. Here, we propose that the ATP-induced allosteric changes of the LF domain enable it to foster intersubunit physical couplings among the DF and two lower body domains, which are pivotal for the channel gating of P2X4 receptors. Metadynamics analysis indicated that these newly established intersubunit couplings correlate well with the ATP-bound open state of the receptors. Moreover, weakening or strengthening these physical interactions with engineered intersubunit metal bridges remarkably decreased or increased the open probability of the receptors, respectively. Further disulfide cross-linking and covalent modification confirmed that the intersubunit physical couplings among the DF and two lower body domains fostered by the LF domain at the open state act as an integrated structural element that is stringently required for the channel gating of P2X4 receptors. Our observations provide new mechanistic insights into P2X receptor activation and will stimulate development of new allosteric modulators of P2X receptors.

The degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily of ion channels contains subfamilies with diverse functions that are fundamental to many physiological and pathological processes, ranging from synaptic transmission to epileptogenesis. The absence in mammals of some DEG/ENaCs subfamily orthologues such as FMRFamide peptide-activated sodium channels (FaNaCs), which have been identified only in mollusks, indicates that the various subfamilies diverged early in evolution. We recently reported that the nonproton agonist 2-guanidine-4-methylquinazoline (GMQ) activates acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs), a DEG/ENaC subfamily mainly in mammals, in the absence of acidosis. Here, we show that GMQ also could directly activate the mollusk-specific FaNaCs. Differences in ion selectivity and unitary conductance and effects of substitutions at key residues revealed that GMQ and FMRFamide activate FaNaCs via distinct mechanisms. The presence of two activation mechanisms in the FaNaC subfamily diverging early in the evolution of DEG/ENaCs suggested that dual gating is an ancient feature in this superfamily. Notably, the GMQgating mode is still preserved in the mammalian ASIC subfamily, whereas FMRFamide-mediated channel gating was lost during evolution. This implied that GMQ activation may be essential for the functions of mammalian DEG/ENaCs. Our findings provide new insights into the evolution of DEG/ENaCs and may facilitate the discovery and characterization of their endogenous agonists.<br/> ©2017 by The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Inc.

摘要:
适宜的磷素分级方法是研究磷素组分特征与评价其有效性的关键. 以磷素的化学与生物活化特点,采用改进的生物有效性的磷素分级方法,应用其研究不同土地利用方式下旱地土与水田土中磷素组分与有效磷(Olsen-P)的关系,并分析环境因子对磷组分的影响. 磷素分级方法将磷素分为4个组分:①自由扩散或根际截留的磷(CaCl_2-P);②有机酸活化和无机弱结合磷(Citrate-P);③系列酶矿化的有机磷(Enzyme-P);④潜在活化的无机磷库(HCl-P). 结果表明, 旱地土及水田土4种磷素组分含量均表现为: HCl-P>Citrate-P>Enzyme-P>CaCl_2-P,且旱地土各磷组分均显著高于水田土. Olsen-P与各磷素组分均呈显著正相关,表明各磷素组分对有效磷都有贡献. 具体表现为:在旱地土中, Olsen-P与 CaCl_2-P和Enzyme-P相关性较高(R~2=0.359;R~2=0.386);在水田土中, Olsen-P与 Citrate-P相关性较高(R~2=0.788),说明旱地土中有效磷主要来自土壤自由扩散的无机磷和易矿化的有机磷部分,而水田土中有效磷主要来自弱酸活化的无机磷. 冗余分析结果表明,磷素组分主要受土壤 pH和黏粒含量的影响,指示在农业生产活动中,可通过调节土壤 pH值,提高土壤有效磷含量.

近红外光谱(NIRS)是一种间接分析技术,其应用需建立相应的校正模型。为了提高模型的解释能力、预测准确度和建模效率,需要对NIRS进行波长选择,优选最小化冗余信息。智能优化算法是以生物的行为方式或物质的运动形态为背景,经过数学抽象建立算法模型,通过迭代计算来求解组合最优化问题,其核心策略是以某种目标函数为标准,基于多元校正建模并以逐步逼近的方法筛选出有效的波长点。选用蚁群优化(ACO)、遗传优化(GA)、粒子群优化(PSO)、随机青蛙(RF)和模拟退火(SA)5种智能优化算法对烟叶总氮和烟碱近红外光谱数据进行特征波长选择,结合偏最小二乘(PLS)算法,构建了多个烟叶总氮和烟碱的校正模型,结果显示:所选用两个数据集的总氮最优模型分别为PSO-PLS和GA-PLS模型,烟碱最优模型分别为GA-PLS和SA-PLS模型,五种智能优化算法所建模型预测性能并非全部优于全谱PLS模型,但是通过智能优化算法进行波长选择后建立的PLS模型大大简化,模型的预测精度、可解释性和稳定性均有所提高。同时也对优选波长进行了解释和分析,烟叶总氮特征波长优选组合为4 587~4 878和6 700~7 200 cm~(-1);烟叶烟碱特征波长优选组合为4 500~4 700和5 800~6 000 cm~(-1),优选出来的特征波长具有实际物理意义。

The intensification of livestock farming and use of arable forage crops has led to a decrease in the area of grassland used for animal husbandry. One potentially profitable use of this grassland is the production of biomass for bioenergy. The C4 grass miscanthus (Miscanthus spp.) is considered an important biomass resource for bioenergy production; however, its cultivation is currently limited by the shortage of suitable agricultural land. The establishment of miscanthus on permanent grassland, at low densities and without destruction of the existing vegetation, could be an interesting option to consider. In this way, the expansion of miscanthus cultivation could be combined with grassland maintenance. Conventional tilling practices in miscanthus establishment (ploughing and herbicide application) on meadows can lead to loss of biodiversity. The aim of this study was to investigate efficient no-till practices for establishment and maintenance of several miscanthus genotypes on permanent grassland in Germany, focusing on the methods to improve establishment success and biomass production potential of miscanthus-supplemented grassland. A field trial was conducted at two sites to assess the effect of genotype, grassland pre-treatment (through temporary suppression of existing vegetation to reduce initial competition) and management (harvest frequencies) on miscanthus establishment and growth in grassland stands. An additional experiment with two miscanthus genotypes was set up to assess the effect of propagation method (rhizomes or pre-grown plantlets) on miscanthus establishment on grassland. Successful miscanthus establishment was achieved with no-till planting and grassland pre-treatment. Overall, miscanthus genotypes with tall, thick shoots performed better on grassland than those with short, thin shoots. Higher establishment rates were achieved through the transplanting of rhizome-derived (pre-grown) plantlets than with direct planting of rhizomes. Cutting the grassland vegetation to a stubble height of 5 cm and spraying herbicide in narrow strips before introducing miscanthus had beneficial effects on its establishment, without significant negative impact on grassland productivity. In the first three years of the study, two biomass harvests per growing season allowed a good total biomass yield from grassland to be achieved without significant impact on miscanthus growth.

Ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation plays an essential role in plant growth and development as well as responses to environmental and endogenous signals. F-box protein is one of the key components of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, which recruit specific substrate proteins for subsequent ubiquitination and 26S proteasome-mediated degradation to regulate developmental processes and signaling networks. However, it is not easy to obtain purified F-box proteins with high activity due to their unstable protein structures. Here, we found that Arabidopsis SKP-like proteins (ASKs) can significantly improve soluble expression of F-box proteins and maintain their bioactivity. We established an efficient ASK-assisted method to express and purify plant F-box proteins. The method meets a broad range of criteria required for the biochemical analysis or protein crystallization of plant F-box proteins. Significance Statement Plant F-box proteins, as a key component of the SCF E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, play important roles in regulating plant growth and development during the entire plant life cycle. However, difficulties in obtaining purified F-box proteins have affected their in-depth study. In this study, we develop an effective ASK-assisted baculovirus-insect cell expression system that is suitable for the expression and purification of various F-box proteins.

Background: Pardosa pseudoannulata is a prevailing spider species, and has been regarded as an important bio-control agent of insect pests in farmland of China. However, the available genomic and transcriptomic databases of P. pseudoannulata and their venom are limited, which severely hampers functional genomic analysis of P. pseudoannulata. Recently high-throughput sequencing technology has been proved to be an efficient tool for profiling the transcriptome of relevant non-target organisms exposed to Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) protein through food webs. Results: In this study, the transcriptome of the venom apparatus was analyzed. A total of 113,358 non-redundant unigenes were yielded, among which 34,041 unigenes with complete or various length encoding regions were assigned biological function annotations and annotated with gene ontology and karyotic orthologous group terms. In addition, 3726 unigenes involved in response to stimulus and 720 unigenes associated with immune-response pathways were identified. Furthermore, we investigated transcriptomic changes in the venom apparatus using tag-based DGE technique. A total of 1724 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected, while 75 and 372 DEGs were functionally annotated with KEGG pathways and GO terms, respectively. qPCR analyses were performed to verify the DEGs directly or indirectly related to immune and stress responses, including genes encoding heat shock protein, toll-like receptor, GST and NADH dehydrogenase. Conclusion: This is the first study conducted to specifically investigate the venom apparatus of P. pseudoannulata in response to Bt protein exposure through tritrophic chain. A substantial fraction of transcript sequences was generated by high-throughput sequencing of the venom apparatus of P. pseudoannulata. Then a comparative transcriptome analysis showing a large number of candidate genes involved in immune response were identified by the tag-based DGE technology. This transcriptome dataset will provide a comprehensive sequence resource for furture molecular genetic research of the venom apparatus of P. pseudoannulata. © 2017 The Author(s).

摘要:
Sparked by growing pollution issues, research aiming at a better harvesting of solar energy in photocatalysts for environmental remediation has been thriving. In this study, a novel mixed valence state of Co2.67S4 nanoparticles with full-spectrum-responsive photocatalytic activity had been fabricated via a facile solvothermal route. The as-synthesized samples were systematically characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV–vis-NIR diffuse reflection spectroscopy (UV–vis-NIR DRS). The photocatalytic performance of as-obtained samples had been investigated by the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. The Co2.67S4 nanoparticles with the particle size of 5–20nm could degrade MB with the efficiency of 64%, 84% and 68% under the UV light, visible light and near-infrared light exposure, respectively. Furthermore, a possible photocatalytic mechanism toward the near-infrared region had been proposed to be that the Co2+/Co3+ redox couple played vital parts in the photocatalytic activity of Co2.67S4. This study provides a novel full solar spectrum-responsive photocatalyst for solar-light utility and environmental remediation. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.

摘要:
生物农药的使用极大地减少了对环境的污染,探究生物农药对致病菌的细菌多样性及群落分布将为后续研究生物农药对致病菌的微生态调控提供理论依据.本研究运用Illumina MiSeq高通量测序技术分析比较辣椒健康植株与疫病发病植株根际土壤微生物多样性,以及研究沼泽红假单胞菌PSB06对植株根际土壤的微生物多样性影响,探究沼泽红假单胞菌PSB06对辣椒疫病的微生态调控机制.结果显示,在第7 d和第14 d的来自同一处理的根际土壤细菌群落多样性变化没有显著差异,辣椒疫病发病植株根际土壤微生物多样性均小于健康植株根际土壤微生物多样性且喷洒沼泽红假单胞菌PSB06发酵液的土样微生物多样性最高;辣椒疫病发病植株根际土壤中放线菌丰度均小于健康植株且喷洒沼泽红假单胞菌菌剂PSB06的土壤中放线菌的丰度最高.辣椒发病植株与健康植株根际土壤中微生物多样性存在显著差异. 施用沼泽红假单胞菌可以改善土壤微生物区系,提高土壤微生物群落丰富性以及土壤中放线菌所占的丰度.

摘要:
In recent years, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), especially sulfate radical based AOPs have been widely used in various fields of wastewater treatment due to their capability and adaptability in decontamination. Recently, metal-free carbon materials catalysts in sulfate radical production has been more and more concerned because these materials have been demonstrated to be promising alternatives to conventional metal-based catalysts, but the review of metal-free catalysts is rare. The present review outlines the current state of knowledge on the generation of sulfate radical using metal-free catalysts including carbon nanotubes, graphene, mesoporous carbon, activated carbon, activated carbon fiber, nanodiamond. The mechanism such as the radical pathway and non-radical pathway, and factors influencing of the activation of sulfate radical was also be revealed. Knowledge gaps and research needs have been identified, which include the perspectives on challenges related to metal-free catalyst, heterogeneous metal-free catalyst/persulfate systems and their potential in practical environmental remediation. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
In recent years, more and more studies have devoted to investigate the application of biosurfactants to enhance the removal of hydrophobic organic compounds (HOCs) and heavy metals from contaminated soils and water. Saponins are non-ionic surfactants derived from plants, which have special molecular structure with hydrophilic glycoside backbone and lipophilic triterpene derivative. This review introduced the source and properties of saponins, and discussed the environmental application of saponins in the remediation of organic and inorganic contaminants, especially in remediation of the hydrophobic organic compounds pollutants and heavy metals in soils or water. These advantages indicate the good prospect of applying saponins in environment remediation. Moreover, further research on full-scale pollutants remediation using saponins and potential areas for future application of saponins are also proposed.

A novel substrate of Ca<inf>14</inf>Ga<inf>10-m</inf>Al<inf>m</inf>Zn<inf>6</inf>O<inf>35</inf>(CGAZO) was successfully synthesized via a high-temperature solid-state reaction method and co-doped with Dy<sup>3+</sup>and Mn<sup>4+</sup>to form a new deep red phosphor (CGAZO:Dy<sup>3+</sup>,Mn<sup>4+</sup>) for plant growth LED lighting. This extraordinary phosphor can exhibit strong far-red emission with a maximum peak at 715 nm between 650 and 750 nm, and other four shoulder peaks at 680, 689, 698 and 706 nm, which can be ascribed to 2E<inf>g</inf>→2A<inf>g</inf>spin-forbidden transition of Mn<sup>4+</sup>. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns clarified that Ga<sup>3+</sup>sites in the host were partly replaced by Al<sup>3+</sup>ions. Moreover, an effective energy transfer from Dy<sup>3+</sup>to Mn<sup>4+</sup>in the CGAZO host had been verified since linear reduction of emission intensities and decay times of the Dy<sup>3+</sup>emission of the phosphors CGAZO:Dy<sup>3+</sup>,Mn<sup>4+</sup>with increasing concentration of Mn<sup>4+</sup>was observed. Finally, a LED device was fabricated using a 460 nm blue-chip, silicon gel, and the as-obtained far-red emitting CGAZO:Dy<sup>3+</sup>,Mn<sup>4+</sup>phosphors. The results of the tobacco plant cultivation lighting by this LED device indicate that the as-prepared phosphor has a potential application in the agricultural industry. ©2017 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

摘要:
The conversion from natural forest to plantation has been widely applied, with consequences on ecosystem carbon pool. The experimental results of changes of soil carbon stocks after forest conversion are often contradictory. Moreover, the recovery time of soil carbon stocks after forest conversion varies among different sites. To examine the changes of soil carbon stocks following the forest conversions in the long-term and to estimate the recovery time, we selected 116 subtropical forests, including 29 pair-wise replicates for evergreen broadleaved forests (EBF, 40–100-year-old), young Chinese fir plantations (Cunninghamia lanceolata) (YCP, 4–8-year-old), middle-aged Chinese fir plantations (MACP, 13–20-year-old), and mature Chinese fir plantations (MCP, 23–32-year-old), and estimated soil carbon stocks. Soil carbon stocks of YCP and MACP decreased in average 12.5 and 28.7 Mg ha<sup>− 1</sup>compared with EBF, and showed no variation between MCP and EBF. Soil carbon stocks were positively correlated to soil total nitrogen stocks and C:N ratio. Our results showed that the forest conversions didn't cause a variation of soil carbon stocks in the long-term, although there was a short-term decline after conversion. The recovery time of soil carbon stock is 27 years. These results indicate that the conversion from evergreen broadleaved forests to Chinese fir plantations in subtropical region of China causes soil carbon release in early stage, but has no effect on soil carbon stocks in the long-term. Prolonging the rotation period (> 27 years) would offset the adverse effects of the forest conversion on soil carbon stocks, and be critical in alleviating global climate change. ©2017 Elsevier B.V.

摘要:
Vaccinium glaucoalbum, a perennial evergreen shrub, is naturally distributed in high-altitude areas. In this study, the composition and content of polyphenolic compounds in the fruit and leaf of V. glaucoalbum were characterized. In total, 24 chemical compounds were detected and identified by HPLC-DAD and HPLC-ESI-MS<sup>2</sup>. Among all the compounds determined, 15 were anthocyanins and detected in fruit, 5 were flavonols and monitored in leaf, and 4 were chlorogenic acids and found in both fruit and leaf. The total anthocyanin content (TAC) of fruit (682 mg/100 g FW) was the highest among wild Vaccinium berries in China which have been investigated for now, and the total flavonol content of leaf was 2764 mg/100 g FW. The antioxidant activity of both fruit and leaf was assessed by DPPH and FRAP assays. Given its high TAC and strong antioxidant activity, the fruit of V. glaucoalbum has great potential in functional food. ©2016 Elsevier Ltd

为研发高效苎麻脱胶酶制剂,对筛选并保藏的苎麻脱胶高效菌种进行液态发酵,测定胞外酶的果胶酶活力、甘露聚糖酶活力和蛋白质含量等特征参数。通过苎麻酶法脱胶,从纤维表观形态学、质量损失率、残胶率等方面综合分析苎麻脱胶效果。结果表明:第N组和第G组的果胶酶活力较优,分别为61.79、13.69 IU/mL,比酶活力分别为4.47、0.93 IU/mg;第N组和第G组的纤维素酶活力仅为0.01、0.02 IU/mL;第N组和第G组苎麻质量损失率分别为20.30%和18.69%,残胶率分别为2.52%和4.21%,均接近实际工业化应用水平;第N组的单纤维线密度为5.31 dtex,束纤维断裂强度为4.8 cN/dtex,属于优质脱胶苎麻纤维。

为研究硅肥对土壤Cd生物有效性以及水稻累积重金属Cd的影响,模拟土壤低Cd污染水平(Cd总量为0.72 mg·kg~(-1))和土壤高Cd污染水平下(Cd总量为5.08 mg·kg~(-1)),土壤基施0、15、30、60 mg·kg~(-1)的硅肥,进行水稻盆栽种植实验.结果表明,施用15 ~ 60 mg·kg~(-1)硅肥能提升水稻各生育期土壤的pH值,降低土壤交换态Cd含量和TCLP提取态Cd含量24.2% ~ 43.7%,12.7% ~ 46.8%,土壤中Si能与Cd形成Si-Cd复合物,降低土壤Cd的生物有效性,且降低效果在土壤低Cd污染水平时优于高Cd污染水平.硅肥提升水稻地上部的生物量尤其是产量.土壤低Cd污染水平下,Si对土壤Cd向水稻地上部的转运有促进和阻碍两种作用,施用量过低(Si 15 mg·kg~(-1))或过高(Si 60 mg·kg~(-1))时均促进土壤Cd向水稻地上部转运,施用量为30 mg·kg~(-1)时则阻碍Cd向上转运.随着Si施用量的增大,糙米Cd含量先上升后下降,范围为0.07 ~ 0.15 mg·kg~(-1),均低于0.2 mg·kg~(-1).土壤高Cd污染水平下,Si阻碍Cd向水稻地上部的转运,糙米、谷壳、茎叶的Cd含量分别降低38.7% ~ 48.5%、35.7% ~ 70.7%、30.9% ~ 40.7%,糙米Cd含量范围0.23 ~ 0.28 mg·kg~(-1).综合考虑产量和糙米Cd含量,土壤低Cd污染水平下,建议施用30 mg·kg~(-1)的Si;高Cd污染水平下,建议施用Si 15 ~ 60 mg·kg~(-1).

Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) can endure long-term and deep submergence stress and cadmium toxicity, respectively. But we do not know whether they can endure cadmium plus waterlogging and what are the differences of ecophysiological responses and metal bio-accumulation of Bermuda grass subjected to normal condition, waterlogging, cadmium or cadmium-and-waterlogging treatments, respectively. Here, the four treatments on Bermuda grass are performed with four replications. Our objective is to determine the ecophysiological responses and endurance abilities, cadmium and zinc bio-concentration and translocation, and the metal uptake mechanisms of Bermuda grass subjected to the four treatments. Our results demonstrated different treatments showed different ecophysiological responses in Bermuda grass. The shoot weights of cadmium treatment were significantly lower than those of the other treatments when the values determined after treated 25 d. Cadmium had a certain promotion effect on the root growth at the early growth stage. SPAD values indicate the relative amounts of chlorophyll present in plant leaves. SPAD value of 35 d was higher than 25 d of cadmium treatment, indicating cadmium had negative effects on chlorophyll contents in the early stage, but the negative effects might be ameliorated as plants adapted to cadmium stress. Waterlogging induced the biomass decrease and accelerated cadmium translocation. The plant leaves had the highest cadmium contents exposed to cadmium-and-waterlogging treatment, while the root showed the highest cadmium contents suffered only cadmium stress. The bio-concentration factor of cadmium-and-waterlogging treatment was less than that of cadmium treatment, but the translocation factor of cadmium-and-waterlogging treatment was much greater than that of cadmium treatment, which indicated phytostabilization was the main phytoremediation process subjected to only cadmium stress, while phytoextraction was the main process when exposed to cadmium-and-waterlogging treatment. Bermuda grass was a cadmium hyperaccumulator and had strong adaptability to waterlogging, cadmium toxicity or both. © 2017, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany.

Allelopathy has been proposed as a sustainable means to control undesired algal growth and to reduce blooms threatening freshwater systems worldwide. In this study, the allelopathic effects of Myriophyllum aquaticum and its exudate on two typical bloom-forming cyanobacteria, Microcystis aeruginosa and Anabaena flos-aquae, were investigated under laboratory conditions. The growth of the cyanobacteria was strongly inhibited by live M. aquaticum while the primary addition of M. Aquaticum exudates had a significant inhibitory effect on the growth of M. aeruginosa but not A. flos-aquae. The results suggested that the persistent release of allelochemicals from live M. aquaticum was needed to effectively constrain the growth of A. flos-aquae. Analysis of cyanobacterial physiological indexes indicated that M. aquaticum produced an inhibitory effect on SOD enzyme activity of A. flos-aquae, while it affected membrane lipid peroxidation in M. aeruginosa. The results show the potential of M. aquaticum to mitigate cyanobacterial blooms in coexistence systems. © 2017, Springer Science+Business Media New York.
